SRM update question

Is it possible to update SRM using a floppy disk?
I have d/led fwupdate.exe and other .sys files from
DEC including instructions but these don't cover
floppy drive.

The situation is worsened by not having ARC.
The box is an alphastation 200 4/166 with a blank
h/drive.

I would like to put Linux on really but haven't had
any joy with MILO either.

I have Redhat 3.0.3 with a version of linux for
axp. Ideally a boot image that would then let me
install Linux from CD is what I need, other than
that ?

I only appear to be able to use boot dva0 (flags),
I did manage to get a kernel image to start booting
but obviously the blank hard drive stopped it doing
much.

Any suggestions including RTFM if you can point me at
specific docs (Milo How-to, etc) would be appreciated.
