Quick Question for the list

I have been offered a surplus Jensen with no HD, Controller, Floppy or ram
for a Dirt cheap price. (IE less than $500) Am wondering how to make it do
Redhat without a lot of hassle. We wanna do a compute intensive Web site,
ie lots of perl code, some database, but the db loves ram and will spare
the HD if it can. DB is not large at all, only 10 MB or so. The site is
just fine on a 90Mhz Pentium/ PCI with 16mb, but the compute performance
for perl would be just grand with an alpha. It would let us put off buying
a big sun or something. We use Apache 1.0.3 Linux 1.2.13 perl 5.001m right
now and everthing is great, but this is quite a deal. I can move the
components over if thats appropriate/possible. I know the jensen is
EISA/ISA only, so I cant use the IDE & Video card. but... jeez, $500
doesnt buy a decent bare Pentium motherboard and this is an _alpha_.

Specific concerns:

Memory? How much, which speed. Lets not break the bank on 64 MB here
either. Is 16 Enough or should I really spring for 24 or 32 MB.

HD Controller: Is a used 1742 Adaptec + Quantum Lightning 730 the right
kind of thing? Could I get by with a good quality IDE and a fast 1 Gig EIDE
or something?

Floppy? should I bother with a 2.88?

Serial ports/modem .. for a mouse & 1 dial in? Just get a single serial
port and an normal ISA Supra or something?

Keyboard? Regular AT is ok, I hope.

CD-ROM? IDEAPI good enough? 2x , just to get the sw on there? I won't
actually be _using_ it.

Ethernet? EISA like the 3Com one? or get DEC's DE 42... whatever it is for
EISA. We're only on ISDN right now, prospecting going to T1, we do however
want to do multiple IP addresses and domain names. We'd also like this to
do mail and dns for itself. Other machines on the local net will be IP
only, no messy other protocols.
