Roughly speaking the in-memory size of the Linux kernel on Alpha is
1.2 - 1.4 Mbytes (1.3.68). Milo takes up around 0.25 Mbytes (so that
"shutdown -r now" can happen) plus 10 pages of PALcode and HWRPB). Don't
forget that the Linux kernel will also allocate memory for it's devices.
My Noname not running X is consuming about 18Mbytes of memory - it's running
RedHat and so all sorts of processes are running (such as sendmail, syslogd
and so on). ps -x works just fine for me (1.3.68). By the way, I had
some bad experiences (corrupted disk, hangs etc) with 1.3.67, I'd either
stick with 1.3.66 or go to 1.3.68.
