It's my understanding that Linux mainly needs new buffer cache code and
a rework of NFS so it can take advantage of it. I thought it was already
work in progress. At any rate, hardware caching might go a long way to
improve an NFS machine's performance.
So, I'm prompted to ask, does anyone know if DOSemu/wine works on an
Alpha? DPT's caching controller is a nice piece of hardware, but I
utterly refuse to install NT just to run the admin program one time
to prep the RAID system. wine would obviate that, I'd think...
