I've got the 166MHz version. It needs more RAM, and was near-useless
without adding an external drive, but it's a decent machine. I wish I'd
waited 2 months to buy it - I'd have gotten the 233 version for the same
price.

Yup. Using mine as an ip-masq gateway and a SAMBA file and print server
for my Win95 machine. The only hitch is there's something weird in the
serial port or driver code (anyone know which, or if it's fixable?) that
keeps it from working faster than 38400 bps, and there's a problem
somewhere (perhaps my ISP) that drops carrier during large transfers. As
a research and "toy" machine, I love it.

It beats the heck out of my former Unix box (SS1+, 25MHz Sparc). The
166MHz compares decently to a P66, or a P90 for some things. I'd expect
the 233MHz (which can safely be jumpered to 266) to be faster, but
probably not comparable to a 200MHz Pentium or one of the current Sparc
boxes.
