Just a wild guess: Could it be that somehow you are stuck in the SRM
firmware? Your statement about the "UDB flashing colours" makes me
think that what you see is just the machine test that the SRM
console does when it is not set up to load the ARC.
When you get a prompt like

when your UDB settles down, then you are in the SRM console. (Although
chances are that you might be using a monitor that cannot display proper
output from the SRM console, since SRM normally boots up with
1024x768@70Hz.)
Anyway: Just try to enter the command "arc" at the boot prompt. That
should cause the SRM console to load the ARC firmware.
