This is true of some other machines I've dealt with in the past, but not of
the UDB. I've all of the following configurations:

simm simm simm simm
1 2 3 4 total
---- ---- ---- ---- -----
12 12 8 8 40
12 12 32 32 88
8 8 32 32 80
32 32 8 8 80

And they all worked correctly.
