Sorry, I don't have an AS400 so I don't know what the LEDs mean. You mean
be able to find some of the support docs on the Compaq site.

As for the serial console, get yourself a serial cable and null modem,
attach one end to serial port one, the other to either a dumb terminal or
a PC running a terminal emulation program (minicom works well on Linux,
HyperTerminal is a popular Win95/98/NT one). Setup the program for
9600,8N1 (9600 baud, 8 data bits, N pairty bits, 1 stop bit).
